Throughout South Yorkshire the main bus operator is First South Yorkshire which were previously known as Mainline and before that South Yorkshire Transport. Like in London the "Red Route Master" was the symbol of travel in London the "Dennis Dominator" was the symbol of buses in South Yorkshire which Dominated the streets. These buses were unfortunately withdrawn from service in June 2006 and will be eventually replaced by an all low floor fleet. First South Yorkshire currently operate around 65% of the county's bus service provision and operate in the Doncaster, Rotherham & Sheffield areas. Stagecoach Yorkshire operates in all 4 boroughs of South Yorkshire, in Barnsley Stagecoach are the main operator and in Sheffield, Rotherham & Doncaster they are the 2nd largest operator with First South Yorkshire being the largest.
